A professional facial is a tailored multi-step skin treatment designed to help improve your skin health. A facial includes cleansing, analyzing, exfoliating, and treating the skin. My primary goal is to promote and improve the overall health of your skin. Facials are the number one treatment performed by estheticians, and a good way for your therapist to get a good understanding of your skin prior to suggesting more progressive treatments.

For most people, facials can be scheduled every four weeks, although I may recommend a different schedule. There are many variations of facials based on different needs, as well as different lengths of time. Please let me know exactly what you want to get out of your facial, and I will be able to recommend a facial to meet your needs.

Facials are generally very relaxing and soothing. I will explain to you what the treatment steps will be. Be sure to communicate with me during the facial if any product burns, itches, or if you need anything or have any questions. Otherwise, just lie back and enjoy the experience. A facial generally includes the following steps:

  • Makeup removal and cleansing of the skin.
  • Skin analysis.
  • Exfoliation by mechanical (microdermabrasion) or enzymatic exfoliation masks.
  • Massage of the face and neck, to aid in relaxation and stimulate blood and oxygen flow to the skin.
  • Extraction of blackheads and other impurities, either manually (using gloved hands and cotton or tissue around the fingers with gentle pressure to remove the impacted pore) or using a metal extraction implement designed to clear blocked pores.
  • Application of products targeted to your skin type (dry, oily, combination, acneic, sensitive, hyperpigmented or mature).

After a facial, your skin will probably be soft, smooth and well hydrated. However, if multiple extractions were needed or if you required a fair amount of exfoliation, your face may be somewhat rosy for one to two hours or more, depending on how sensitive your skin is. This is quite normal. You can apply mineral makeup after your facial if there is some redness you want to conceal. I will go over which professional home care products for you to continue the improvement in your skin following your professional treatment. This way, you will be using the quality products that maximize benefits and prolong effects of your treatment!

Absolutely, facials during pregnancy can be especially beneficial. During pregnancy your skin will often reflect the hormonal changes occurring within your body, having facials will help balance those changes. Please consult with your physician to be cleared for a facial.

Absolutely! All of my facials treatments are designed for men as well. However, I offer a facial which specifically addresses men’s skincare needs.

No, I welcome beards of all shapes and sizes and have special treatments that help condition the hair. However, if you would like to shave, please do so 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment.

Microdermabrasion is a method of exfoliation that uses a machine to remove dead surface skin cells and initiate cellular turnover. Using a diamond-tipped wand to gently sand and resurface the skin, combined with suction to remove the dead skin cells this method stimulates blood circulation and revitalize collagen production, which promotes younger-looking skin. It can be helpful to treat aging and sun-damaged skin, altered pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, and some types of acne and acne scarring. Results may include improved skin tone, reduced visual appearance of aging, fewer breakouts, diminished appearance of scars, refined skin pores, renewed elasticity, and a healthy glow. Microdermabrasion may be recommended for those with chemical sensitivities and can be used on most skin colors and types, although there are some contraindications.  We will discuss this in your initial consultation to determine if you are a suitable candidate for this treatment.

Everyone’s treatment needs are different. I may recommend a series of treatments, spaced at least a week or so apart. More serious skin issues like acne scars or skin discoloration may require additional treatments. After the initial treatment course, maintenance treatments are recommended every so often to maintain the results.

Microdermabrasion is considered a comfortable, well-tolerated treatment. You may feel a mild scratching sensation as the device moves across the skin, but the feeling should be bearable overall.

This treatment has no serious side effects. Immediately after the treatment, you may experience minor tightness or dryness in the skin, akin to a mild sunburn. This can be alleviated with a moisturizer and sunblock. Your skin may appear slightly red for a day after the treatment; however, this is entirely normal and temporary. No post-treatment effects will be serious enough to restrict you from resuming most normal activities.

Because fresh skin has been newly exposed, it is important to apply sunscreen and to avoid direct sunlight and tanning booths following your session. Also, avoid products containing harsh chemicals, dyes, or perfumes until the skin has fully healed.

This treatment is not recommended for anyone looking to remove deep scars, keloids, sunburns, rosacea, eczema, active acne, or deep scars. These more serious skin conditions are best treated with alternative treatments. The treatment is not recommended for anyone with skin cancer or infectious skin conditions such as warts, herpes, or unstable diabetes. Microdermabrasion is not recommended for pregnant women.

It visibly decreases acne, age spots, blemishes, coarse skin, a dull complexion, enlarged pores, fine lines, perinocular wrinkles, rosacea and skin laxity

The application of high frequency current to the skin promotes a natural cleansing and antibacterial action that helps treat existing acne and prevents the onset of new acne. Clients experiencing cystic acne will benefit greatly from the deep penetrating germicidal action of high frequency.

The skin is left feeling instantly energized, rosy, firm, refreshed and noticeably softer – even after just one treatment. The enriched oxygen molecules produced by high frequency machines are safe and have been proven to be effective in helping to heal and restore the skin’s health.

High frequency is used to treat a range of concerns from skin lesions, acne, waxing procedures to fine lines, sagging skin and puffy eyes. Common areas of treatment include the face, neck and scalp, intimate areas. High frequency can be used on the entire body including the back.

Since the electric pulses course through the entire body, avoid all electrical treatments such as galvanic current, and high frequency if you have:

• Heart problems

• is/are Pregnant

• Diabetic

• Any cuts, abrasions or open sores

• Any mental problems

• Any history of epilepsy

• Electrophobic

• Metal implants, pins or plates

• Pacemaker

All the benefits of a traditional facial but specifically designed for your most sensitive areas. The facial for your vulva involves a deep cleansing, exfoliation, ingrown hair extraction (as needed), a mask, LED lights for antibacterial motives, high frequency, steaming and a soothing moisturizer, and a variety of options for your unique needs. The vajacial is recommended for every woman that regularly gets Brazilians or bikini waxes or simply wants to keep their intimate parts neat and tidy.

There are many benefits to maintaining a regular hair removal cycle. Waxing regularly will cause the hair to grow back finer, thinner, and more sparse. We have three different hair growth cycles, please take into consideration that you may not be 100% smooth for your first wax. I recommend trusting me for at least 4 waxing services to experience the full benefits.

I will use a combination of both hard and soft waxes to create a personalized experience to better meet your hair removal needs. I use Hard Wax on the Bikini Area, Underarms, and Facial Waxing as it is less irritating to the skin and most people find it to be less painful. Soft Wax is used for all other services. Although hard wax may be used on the chest and stomach depending on the hair type. I will try my best to accommodate your needs!

Yes you can! Waxing during pregnancy is generally safe. Hormones can cause an increase in hair growth during pregnancy, which can result in more sensitivities. When booking please let me know so I can be sure to book more time in your appointment to ensure your comfort at all times. Please be sure to get clearance from your physician first.

I won’t lie to you, waxing can be uncomfortable.. The pain is temporary and will vary from person to person, depending on pain tolerance.  However, with consistency and the proper skin care regimen,  the discomfort will become more tolerable. When you attend a waxing appointment in the future, it won’t even be something to be concerned about.

In order to get the highest results from waxing, your hair needs to be ¼ inch to ½ inch long (approx. the length of a grain of rice) to adhere to and be pulled out by the roots. Keep the area clean and dry, free of oils. 24 to 48 hours before your waxing appointment, exfoliate the area to be waxed. Avoid the following things at your wax appointment to achieve the best results: Caffeine, alcohol.

Yes you can. Ideally, try to avoid waxing while on your cycle. Your skin will be more sensitive and can make the service more painful. However, you are able to wax while on your cycle, please use a fresh tampon and notify me before the start of the service.

The answer to this question varies from person to person. We all have different rates of hair growth, and some body areas grow back more quickly than others. Your hair has various cycles of growth as well, so you want to make sure all of your hair is grown out prior to waxing, or else the hair that was not long enough to be removed will grow in a matter of days. For most people, results will last from 3-7 weeks.

If you use a topical prescription cream, you can still wax. However, you will want to discontinue use for a week prior to your appointment and several days after. for a week prior to your appointment and several days after. Even then, you may experience more irritation than you would if you were not using one at all. Clients who are using accutane/isotretinoin cannot, under any circumstances, wax until they have discontinued use for at least six months. Waxing while taking accutane can result in dramatic tearing of the skin because it is so compromised by this medication

At this time, I do not offer Brazilian waxing for men.

You will want to avoid tanning for 48 hours prior to and after waxing. Waxing recently tanned skin can result in peeling and irritation. If you use a sunless tanner or get spray tanned be advised that waxing will remove the tan in those areas because it also removes a thin layer of dead skin cells.

For your 1st bikini/Brazilian wax trim a bit if you have long hair. Long hairs make the esthetician’s job a little harder and may give you more discomfort. If you don’t know what to trim, I can do it for you. Your first waxing is not always the “perfect” wax. Hair grows in 3 stages and it can take up to 4 waxings to have all of the hair be on the same growth cycle. Exfoliation can also help all of the hairs grow in more evenly. This means a smoother wax. I would advise to exfoliate the 1-2 days before your appointment.

I do not recommend your first wax being the day before a big event (wedding, vacation, anniversary) especially if you are heading to the beach or spending lots of time in the sun. It is good to give your body a few days to adjust to having the hair removed from the follicle. I would suggest coming in for two waxings before the big event which means 2 months time to get both appointments in.

AVOID:

  • Sun exposure
  • Heat (ex. hot showers, sauna, hot tub)
  • Perspiration (ex. working out)
  • Swimming
  • Intimate activity

AFTER CARE:

  • Exfoliate every 2-3 days (gentle hand exfoliating glove, body scrubs or products I would recommend to tailor each skin type/condition)
  • Stay hydrated
  • Keep skin moisturized, no fragranced lotions. I recommend jojoba oil, grapes seed or rosehip oil daily!
  • No picking or shaving
  • Maintaining aftercare is very essential!
